    Superior thinkers become superior.  The child whose mind has been honed will acquire knowledge more quickly and use that knowledge more effectively in all areas of life.  Learning, the acquisition of knowledge, is the key.  The child whose mind is faster and more brilliant than the children's around her will excel.  In sports, the thinker is able to learn to to utilize his body and technique to win.  In the family, a learner is able to become a facilitator of healthy relationships.  In school, a problem solver shines as the brightest star in her class.  Thinking breeds success and  success breeds persistence.  Only the persistent among us become superior.

     Research, due to new technology, has  become available in the past few years. It is revolutionizing our ideas about the human brain at the cellular level. These new technologies such as MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) allow scientists to view the human brain as never before, functioning before their eyes. It has created a new field of psychology called Cognitive Neuroscience which is slowly reducing passed notions of the human mind to mere quackery or witchcraft.  Simple memory experiments have changed the the scientific view of memory giving us brave new insight into the subject.  Human neural networks, are now modeled by computer programs which can learn.  Unfortunately, our children are not benefiting from these advances.

    The Ohyah Group was formed in response to a disturbing gap between research in learning,  a part of cognition, and educational practice in the classroom.  Even teachers who are fresh from the university have little knowledge about current cognitive theory.  Learning theory is in fact a part of cognition which is classified by most universities to be a in the domain of  psychology.  So, while great leaps and bounds are being made in the area of cognition, teachers are still being taught learning theory which dates back to the early part of this century and even to the 1800's.

    The Ohyah Group will not let America's children be short changed.  We are dedicated to bring to parents and children the opportunity to put this research to work for themselves.  The Ohyah group produces low cost materials for parents and their children.  Materials which, if put into action, could change the course of young lives.
